Interview with Amy

Last week I got in touch with Amy, a gal who inspires readers daily through her honesty, humor, and beautiful photos on her blog, {Lucky Number13}. She has been participating in the Ten on Ten photo project for nearly a year now, and we are thrilled to have this chance to introduce you to her, if you don't know her already! You will love this lady's eye for capturing beauty in the everyday moments of motherhood, and I believe you will be encouraged by her words as well! Enjoy the following interview!

::

Kristen: What is your name, age, and location?

Amy: I'm Amy and I am 36. I live in Illinois with my husband, two kids (ages 3 and 5) and two beagles. My current job is: stay-at-home mom.
My blog is: Lucky Number13.

K: How long have you been participating in the Ten on Ten photo project, and how did you first hear about it?

A: Since September 2009. I first learned of it from Rebekah's blog and was instantly in love with the idea, I think I've only missed one month since then.

K: What inspires you about the Ten on Ten project?

A: I love photo challenges but what I love so much about this one is that there is no pressure for a fantastic photo, it's simply just a glimpse of your day in pictures....anything goes.

K: What do you find yourself taking photos of when capturing your day for Ten on Ten?

A: Whatever is closest to me at the time I realize it's time for another picture, honestly. Usually food, the kids, nature....whatever we are doing in that instant.

K: Do you have a favorite Ten on Ten set from the past year? Why is it a favorite?

A: March 2010. None of the pictures are outstanding but looking back at them reminds me that it was a good day.

K: Has this project influenced how you see your daily life in any way?

A: It has. It's a great reminder to take notice of all the little details in your daily life, I love that.

K: Why might you encourage someone to participate in this project?

A: I do encourage anyone who is not currently participating to join in the fun, mark your calendars for the tenth and charge those batteries! I love that through this project you get to see a good portion of someone else's day through their eyes. And it's just one day a month so it's not a huge commitment, I like that.

K: What does an average day look like for you?

A: An average day for me is me hanging out with the kids, breaking up fights, reading books, building forts, art time, spending time outside if it's nice and trying to hang onto my sanity.

K: What does an ideal day look like for you?

A: A big family breakfast in the morning and then we would take a road trip somewhere...stop for coffee and hopefully squeeze in a couple of antiquing stops. There would be no fighting all day. The grandparents would beg to have the kids sleep over that night and I would go out for margaritas with my best girlfriends or have an uninterrupted date night with my husband. And if this is my fantasy there would have to be some alone time in there somewhere, too.

K: What inspires you currently? Who are your favorite photographers?

A: Oh wow, so much....my kids, music, nature, antique stores, magazines, blogs, Flickr, old photographs. A few photographers I am currently loving:

Ashley Ann

Vicky Dvorak (flickr and blog)

Thanks so much for taking the time to share these glimpses into your world with us, Amy! And thank you, too, for encouraging your friends and blog readers to join the Ten on Ten photo project!

I love, love, love the messy paint, umbrellas and boots in the water photos! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and photos. This was my first month participating. I look forward to seeing the world through my camera a little bit differently each month due to the inspiration of so many of the wonderful people here!
